Custom home is one of the nation’s cultural assets. Each region has a custom home with unique characteristics and each of them. However, unfortunately the day more and more people are leaving the area of custom homes and move in a regular house. Only some regions, people, or tribe which still survive in the custom house.
One of the interesting custom home is Batak Karo traditional houses. This custom home is also known as custom home Siwaluh Jabu. Siwaluh Jabu has a sense of a house inhabited by eight families. Each family has its own role in the house.
Karo custom home is different from other tribal house and the peculiarities that characterize the traditional Karo house. It’s very majestic horns given. The process of establishment up to life in a traditional house was governed by customary Karo, and therefore called a custom home.

However, there are times when Batak Karo traditional houses of eight rooms and is inhabited by eight families. While in this house there were only four kitchens. Each divided in two, forming Jabu Jabu-Jabu sedapuren bena wood, wood tip sedapuren, sedapuren lepar bena wood, and Jabu sedapuren lepar wood tip.
